What vaccinations are required?

Your pet will need the standard booster that your vet gives once a year. Additionally, we recommend a kennel cough for dogs. Although this does not include the various strains of a cough, it does cover the worst varieties. Kennel cough is similar to the human cold. It is airborne and can be picked up wherever your dog comes into contact with other dogs, for example, out walking or in the waiting room of your vets. Your vet can provide further advice.

When do I pay for my pet's stay?

Normally you pay at the end of the stay when you come to collect your pets. You can also choose to pay on arrival or in advance.

My pet has never been in a kennels/cattery before – will he/she cope?

The vast majority of pets take to boarding at Morton Villa very well. We will do our utmost best to make them as comfortable as possible. If they haven’t boarded before it is often a good idea to book a single night's stay for the first visit so that they learn that this is just a temporary home and that they will be going home again.

What happens if my pet requires medication while staying at Morton Villa?

We are happy to administer medications to any pet in our care at no extra charge. We can accommodate diabetic pets as long as the animal has a healthy appetite.

What should I bring with me?

Please bring an up to date vaccination certificate. We also accept soft bedding, toys and treats (we also provide all these items so they are not essential). Please don’t bring anything too precious in case it gets chewed or mislaid in the wash.

Are you open all year round?

Yes, we are open for boarding every day of the year but shut for arrival and departures on the following five days: Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, Boxing Day, New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day. Your pet can stay with us during this period but you cannot bring them in or collect them.

Can I telephone while I am away to check on my pet?

Of course, we are happy to take calls enquiring about your animals while you are away.

What forms of payment do you accept?

We accept cash, credit cards and debit cards. We no longer accept cheques.

What happens if I need to cancel my booking?

We ask that you give us seven days' notice wherever possible if you need to cancel to give us the opportunity to re-let the kennel. If you have given us less notice or simply not turned up without letting us know on multiple occasions, you may be asked to pay in advance for future bookings.

Can I look round?

Viewing of our facilities is welcomed, no appointment necessary. We ask that you visit 10 -11 or 4 - 5 any day including weekends.

What will happen on arrival?

Please bring your pet to the reception where you will be met by one of our staff receptionists and one of the kennel team. Your pet will be taken away quite quickly. It is easier for your dog to walk away from you rather than you walking away from them, they are also very sensitive to our emotions so if we get upset they become concerned. For this reason, we try to take them away quickly with tail wagging, we believe that kennels are much more stressful for owners than for the vast majority of dogs. If you think you will become upset at leaving them, it may be worth considering asking a family member or friend to bring them in. We will check your boarding dates and vaccination certificate and ask you to sign a simple contract confirming the dates, charges and giving us permission to talk to your vet, should the need arise.

What happens if my pet is ill while staying at Morton Villa?

Wherever possible we will take your pet to your own vets as they hold the detailed medical history. In an absolute emergency, we will use the nearest vet if travelling further would be detrimental to your pet. Insurance is included within our fees and covers veterinary fees for injury or illness during boarding and for illness commencing within 72 hours of leaving Morton Villa (excluding conditions that existed prior to boarding). Total insurance payment is capped at £1250 per pet.
